Emma McPherson is one of Australia’s leading truffle detection dog trainers, known for her deep understanding of how scent, soil and teamwork come together in the orchard. With over a decade of hands-on experience training and handling detection dogs across police, military and agricultural settings, Emma has turned her expertise toward helping truffière owners develop reliable and efficient truffle dogs.

Drawing from her background as a professional K9 handler, Emma applies proven detection methodologies to the art of truffle hunting - blending scientific precision with a genuine passion for the truffle industry. Her training focuses on building calm, confident dogs that locate truffles accurately with speed and precision and on coaching handlers to read subtle changes in their dog’s behaviour during a search.

Emma has trained and placed truffle dogs throughout Australia and is now partnering with the American Truffle Company to export high quality Truffle Dogs internationally, providing end-to-end support from odour association to full-season field readiness. Her harvesting knowledge spans all aspects of truffle detection - from soil conditions and scent movement to maintaining odour reliability and managing team endurance during harvest season.

Through Muddy Pawz Truffle Detection, Emma continues to elevate the standard of truffle dog training worldwide - ensuring every handler and dog team works in harmony to bring precision, sustainability and enjoyment to every truffle hunt.
